Birkin Croc Bags
Birkin Leather Bags
Original Birkin Handbags are manufactured by the luxury leather goods and clothing manufacturer Hermès. It is named after British-born actress and singer Jane Birkin, who in 1981 was traveling on an airplane seated next to the President of Hermès when she spilled the contents of her handbag. When the President of Hermès noticed, he offered to create a bag named after her.
Costing from around £3500 they are higly desirable and used by many celebrties, the waiting list for a Birkin is over two years, although, in practice, a genuine customer can walk into an Hermès shop and purchase one if the shop manager feels that she is a legitimate buyer and not just someone trying ti make a quick buck by reselling.
The Hermès Birkin Handbag is completely handmade. It's manufacturing takes approximately 5 weeks. Because it is a special order-only item, one may personalise the bags material, metal, colors, etc.
The interior lining typically matches the outside of the bag and is usually made of goatskin (Chevre leather). The metallic hardware (the lock, keys, and feet studs) are typically made of palladium, though other metals are available upon request. The lock is usually metal, but a leather covered lock is an option when custom ordering. The bag's metallic parts may also be encrusted with diamonds. The keys come inside a detachable tag.
One of the most expensive variations of the bag is one made of crocodile skin. The price of these bags depends on the size of the scales. Bags with smaller scales cost much more than those with larger scales.
